Kindred Spirits – a FESTIVE Fundraiser for the Food & Farming Program

We know that everything feels more hopeful – and in fact wonderful - when we’re together. So we’re hosting a Kindred Spirits Party! Save this date for what promises to be one of your most memorable and wacky afternoons with friends all year!

Who: Locals who celebrate our unique community. We mean YOU and other locals who see a greater quality of life in supporting each other and local businesses and farms, in renewable energy and green building, in local food and fair trade, in sustainable businesses, and in being together!

What: Kindred Spirits – a FESTIVE fundraiser for the Food & Farming Program
•    Harvest Chase: Ever been to a Harvest Chase? Probably not! But we guarantee this will be the most fun and wacky race you'll see all year. Cheer for your favorite, or sign up your own team!  This .2K race starting at 1:30pm (yes, a 200-meter obstacle course), will feature teams dashing through a fish tossing, grape squeezing, corn shucking, tomato eating, udder pulling, apple chomping race course. Prizes awarded!
•    Local Spirits Beer & Wine Garden: ‘Kindred Spirits’ will enjoy trying spirits from Boundary Bay Brewery, Honey Moon Meadery, Samson Estates Winery, Mount Baker Vineyards, & the North Fork Brewery
•    Barn Dance: 1-3pm Quick Draw String Band; 3-5pm Maggie’s Fury
•    Food Vendors offering wood-fired La Fiamma pizza, Mallard ice cream, Ralf’s Bavarian Pretzels, and Chocolate Necessities - all with fresh, local ingredients

When & Where: October 1st, 1:00-5:00pm; Depot Market Square at the corner of Railroad and Chestnut Avenues in downtown Bellingham
Cost: $10, kids under 12 free; ($35 for race participation)'; Event tickets and/or team race registration: Call (360) 647-6902 or email max@sconnect.org. Event tickets also available at Village Books and the Community Food Co-op.

P.S. 12% of Whatcom’s farms were lost between 1997 and 2002 alone. All proceeds will benefit Sustainable Connections’ Food & Farming Program. Help local farmers succeed and new sustainable farms to grow.
P.S.S. We can’t wait!
