An Introduction to the IDP and Design Synergies
An introduction to the Integrated Design Process is a 1/2 day workshop that has been designed for people who will be participants in the IDP and want to improve their skills and ability to understand, effectively participate in and contribute to this process. It will also assist project team members to make the case for IDP to their clients and colleagues.
Check-in begins at 7:30am, workshop is from 8:00am-12:00noon
Design Synergies is a 1 hour seminar that will address how integrated design synthesizes climate, use, loads and systems to deliver a more comfortable, productive and energy-efficient environment, while meeting project requirements and budget. This seminar will be offered in

These workshops will provide the technical details necessary to properly design, build and maintain low impact development (LID) practices and are arguably the most extensive set of technical LID trainings offered in the
Each of the four workshops to be held in
· Bioretention (Workshop #1: Sept 10-11)
o siting, sizing and modeling techniques
o designing surface and subsurface drainage components
o soil mixes
· Clearing and Grading (Workshop #2: Oct 1-2)
o preserving native vegetation
o LID construction sequencing
o site planning review and inspection
· Green roofs, LID foundations, rainwater collection (Workshop #3: Oct. 22-23)
o green roof modeling
o green roof, cistern and foundation design, installation and maintenance
· Permeable paving (Workshop #4: Nov 5-6)
o specifications for permeable asphalt, concrete, interlocking concrete pavers and other paving systems
o subgrade preparation and base material specifications
o modeling and maintenance
ALL workshops will be held at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal from 8:30-5:00pm.
