NORTHWEST REGIONAL GREEN BUILDING PRODUCTS MATRIX INFORMATION AND DISCLAIMER

This product matrix has been developed by Be Green Consulting for Sustainable Connections’ Green Building and Sustainable Design Program with funding from the Environmental Protection Agency, City of Bellingham, Whatcom County, RE Store, Sanitary Services Company, Puget Sound Action Team, Bullitt Foundation, the Russell Family and the Huxley College at Western Washington University.  It is meant to provide architects, builders, designers, developers, engineers, government officials, planners and end users a starting point in the quest for green building materials. 
 
This matrix has been developed following the CSI MasterFormat™ numbering system in which many industry professionals are familiar with.  This matrix contains contact information for products that meet some of the criteria Sustainable Connections uses to define a green building product.  In addition, we have used similar parameters that the United States Green Building Council (www.usgbc.org) uses in the LEED™ Rating System.  We have put emphasis on local products in support of our local economy and the reduction of embodied energy.  Such criteria includes:  Local/regional materials (both harvested and manufactured locally), recycled content and the ability of materials to be recycled in the future, salvaged materials and the ability of the material to be reused in the future, renewable resources (materials that can be renewed within a 10 year cycle), energy efficient materials, renewable energy, FSC wood materials, alternatives to PVC and other products that meet the needs of the green building community.
 
Be Green Consulting, Sustainable Connections and our sponsors do not endorse any of the products in this matrix.  We assume no responsibility to the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of the products, nor do we warrant any of the claims made by the manufacturers, nor do we ensure compatibility with and applicable laws, codes or regulations.  We are simply providing contact information for materials that meet our definition of green building.  It is the responsibility of the user to complete further research into these building materials in order to confirm that the application of the materials are adequate to the needs of the your particular project.  Please credit Sustainable Connections if our research is used for other reference materials.  Also, this tool is provided free for educational services and can not be sold.
